El Tarot Papus no es tan antiguo como otras barajas de tarot, sino que data de 1909. Denominado “El Tarot de los Bohemios”, el Tarot Papus fue creado por el doctor Gerard Encausse, quien firmaba sus escritos sobre ocultismo con el seudónimo de “Papus” (de ahí lo de Tarot Papus).
Aunque se le consideraba un buen médico, Encausse abandonó esta ciencia para dedicarse a una menos reconocida socialmente: el ocultismo. Tras defender el origen egipcio del Tarot, el ex médico publica un libro, “El Tarot de los Bohemios” (en el que se basa el Tarot Papus), considerado el mejor libro sobre esta disciplina ocultista.
De vuelta a la medicina al empezar la I Guerra Mundial, el inspirador del Tarot Papus muere de agotamiento. La baraja del Tarot Papus fue dibujada por Gabriel Gourdinat, teniendo como base el mencionado libro de “El Tarot de los Bohemios” (Tarot Papus).
Los Arcanos Mayores del denominado Tarot Papus se encuentran muy influidos por el Tarot Falconier, así como los arcanos menores del Tarot Papus tienen reminiscencias del Eteilla, por lo que sigue la línea de pensamiento de su inspirador y tiene un aspecto totalmente egipcio. Es por ello que se puede decir que una de las fuentes del casi todos los Tarots actuales es el Tarot Papus.

That is why we can say that one of the sources of almost all current is the Tarot Papus Tarots.
